Movie Review: Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire

Movie Review:
Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire
Written By Courtney T.
Harry Potter is yet again, starting a whole new year at the magical school of wizardry, Hogwarts. This time, Harry is faced with his biggest challenge yet... puberty.Musical Score: It is purely a given that any (and I might add every) Harry Potter film has a haunting and quality sound that is a very familiar sound to all Potter fans. Then again, I have noticed with the films that with every new Potter flick, there is less of the trademark music. Goblet of Fire seemed to be very short of this haunting tune that we all love. The musical score on Goblet seemed nearly non-existant. This go round, I give what little musical sound there was, a 7/10. Acting: Harry Potter is shy, a little awkward, humble, and come on, over all Harry just seems to be a nice guy. Daniel Radcliffe posesses all of these qualities. He has the awkward looks, the whole british thing, everything. I believe that he is not only having a stronger performance in each film, but he just potrays Harry perfectly. The supporting cast as well (especially considering their age group) does a very believable and not to mention a somewhat, "quirky" job. I give it a 8/10.The Plot: As always the plot (thanks to good old Rowling) is always in the present supportive of the future. Which is HARD to do. I think Rowling is only expected to do such a good job considering that her books are almost all bestsellers. I give it a 9/10.The Script: Also as always (forgive me, I am a Potter fanatic!) the script is very well and fits the characters perfectly. It is always very believable and also engaging as you watch the characters grow and develop. I give it a 8/10.Overall Score: I know, I know, I've been praising this movie throughout the entire review, but I did not mention one fault in the movie. Magic! In Harry Potter 1 and 3 (or at least in my opinion) there is a very nostalgic and magical feel to it. Don't get me wrong Goblet had it, just not to the very extremes as the others. I think it may have something to do with the music shortage... hmmm. I'm not quite sure but, I liked this movie, but my favorite slot is still filled by Sorcerers Stone and Prisoner. I give it.... OVERALL-Y..... a 8/10.

Roseville:I Want To Preach The Gospel

Roseville
"I Wanna Preach The Gospel"
Written By Blair Sanders
It was a nice summer day in Roseville. School had not yet started, but the church youth group was going strong. Pastor John's sermon was about Jonah and the Ninevites. "Although, Jonah didn't like the Ninevites because they did bad things. God wanted Jonah to go to Nineveh and tell them that they were doing bad things in God's eyes. They got their reality check and repented. Jesus said in Mark 16:15, 'Go unto the world and preach the Gospel to every creature'. We need to apply that truth to our lives." Those were words of the message that rang in Olivia Banner's head.
The following day, Olivia met up with Rachel and JB at Roseville's Best Ice Cream Joint. (Yes, that's the actual name of the establishment.) It wasn't very crowded. "Pastor John's sermon struck me," said Olivia. "Jonah was called to tell the Ninevites that they were sinners, then they apologized. We are to do the same thing. I wonder how we could do that?" At that moment, Olivia noticed some girls in a table opposite theirs. One of the girls happened to be her adversary, Britana. Britana was never very nice to Olivia, Rachel, or anyone else Olivia was associated with. "I want to witness to them." said Olivia. "I know she and her group are nasty toward us at times, but similar to the Ninevites, they need guidance as well." JB was the first to speak up. "You're right, Olivia, but how do we do that?" "Yes, how are we to do so?" Rachel chimed in. "Britana doesn't like us. She treats us badly. She's mean to us!" Just as Rachel finished her sentence, a wet, cold, and creamy substance was dumped on top of her.
Britana had heard the tail-end of the conversation. Because of the lack of crowd, it was easy to eavesdrop. Offended, she had poured a milkshake on Rachel. "What?!? I'm soaked!" Rachel exclaimed. As she was speaking, Britana let out a chuckle, as she and her posse had turned and walked away. "As I said, she is too mean. We can speak the Gospel to her directly," said Rachel. Olivia had an idea. "What if we took her to church? All we have to do is invite her." Rachel, still covered in melted milkshake, was shocked. "Invite her to church?!? I don't mind being embarrassed here, there is hardly anyone here, let alone anyone I know. However, at church if she were to do that, I would feel horrible." Olivia hadn't thought about that. Britana could make fools of Rachel, JB, and herself in front of their friends. Did they really need Britana ruining their church.
Afterwards, Olivia went to the Roseville park to think. She always went to the park to swing and to contemplate her circumstances. She was in a bind. She wanted to bring Britana to Christ, but she shuddered at the thought of bringing her to church and risking complete humiliation. The swings in the park were located near the tennis courts. Her friend, Lawrence Carter, was practicing his serve, and had noticed her swinging. As her friend, he knew she would swing everytime she had a dilemma. He also realized this because he practiced frequently. He came to her and asked her what was wrong. "I feel like a failure. I want to preach the Gospel to Britana, but I don't have courage to tell her personally. Also, I don't want to take Britana to our church and she make fun of us," explained Olivia. Lawrence understood her problem. "Britana is mean, but she needs God right now," said Lawrence. "Her parents are fighting with each other, she has trouble with her schoolwork, she has pressure to maintain her popularity, and on top of that, she is narrowly escaping being expelled," said Lawrence. "She is having a lot of trials attacking her. She needs help to pick her up. Are you willing?" "I want to be willing, but I'm weak," said Olivia. Lawrence answered her, "You shouldn't be telling me this, you need to pray to God and pray to give you strength to do his will. That's what you've got to do."
Olivia thanked Lawrence for his support and went home. She prayed that God would give her the courage and strength to reach out to Britana. The next day, she saw Britana. The surprising fact was her tears. Britana was sitting on the floor crying. "If I don't get this mountain of homework done, I'll be expelled!" yelled Britana with a heavy heart. Olivia walked closer and closer. She finally asked Britana if she needed help. Britana looked at her and kept crying. Olivia was surprised at Britana's reaction, she was expecting her to be grateful. She asked, "Britana, I was offering assistance, but you are still crying,". Britana again looked at Olivia saying, "I'm now crying because, of all people, you are giving me help. You are being kind to me, when I was cruel to you". Olivia stood amazed. She had the upper-hand. She answered, "I'll help you with your schoolwork, but I know something that will heal you of your pains. Please meet me at church Sunday. I think you will enjoy it". Britana smiled at Olivia and thanked her.
On Sunday, Britana went to church with Olivia. She surrendered to Jesus two weeks later. With Olivia's aid, Britana finished all her schoolwork. She is no longer on the verge of failing. She even apologized to Rachel for the milkshake incident. Rachel got another shake. To drink, not to shampoo. Olivia learned that even when people are unkind, they still need God's love in their lives. God can bring even the cruelest person to their knees. God can also give us the ability to reach others with his love and mercy.

CD Review:
Jessie Daniels Jessie Daniels
Written by Blair S.
Jessie Daniels is the first Christian artist on the country music label, Midas Records. Her debut has spawned the upbeat CHR hit "The Noise", and the current single, "Everyday", is climbing the charts as we speak. Jessie Daniels' self-titled album follows efforts by Aly & AJ, Krystal Meyers, and Everlife. Having a rock-based feel, yet bringing some up-tempo pop vocals to the table. The singles, "The Noise" and "Everyday", show this side of this future superstar. While most of the songs are upbeat guitar-driven pop songs, Jessie gives us some pretty ballads. Such as "Hold Me Now" and "It's No Wonder". These songs have AC radio potential, as "Hold Me Now" is an Adult Contemporary single. If you prefer the rock stylings of Krystal Meyers, you will enjoy rock songs "Hello/Goodbye" and "Human Being". I also have to complement the lyrics of the songs. "Next To You" being the best. The song speaks about how God "Broke the rules of time, rearranged the universe, brought his world to ours, so we could next to him." "Everyday" is how God loves us, how he tries "everyday" to bring us closer to Him. The last track is a remix of "Hold Me Now". The song guest stars Tom Pellerin of Overflow. The remix is softer than the original version. Overall, a great CD, especially for fans of female guitar-pop.

Really Reality TV

Survivor: Cook Islands-Episode 3
"Yay! A merge! But Cao Boi is still in harms way. I'm just happy it was either Becky or Cecilia, with Cecilia going home. Ozzy is wishing he didn't throw last week's challenge. He is now the only original member of Aitu. I like Cao Boi, Jonathan, and Ozzy. What do you know, THEY'RE ON THE SAME TEAM! Is that a good thing? I want the Raro tribe to lose now. There aren't as many favorites on that team." -Blair S.

The Amazing Race 10-Episode 3
"No money? Duke & Lauren kept getting lucky, then unlucky, then lucky, then ultimately unlucky as they were eliminated. I didn't like Lauren, but I liked Duke. I was really hoping Tom & Terry's penalty would slam them. They are annoying. Erwin & Godwin are team #1! I guess being of a similar culture helped them. I hope Mary's leg/ankle feels better. Lyn & Karlyn were nice to attempt to give Dave & Mary a ride." -Blair S.

Projected Radio Single Hits
This month, I'm going to give you my thoughts on the latest singles in the world of radio. What songs are new. What songs I think will be number one hits. Also, what songs I think will barely hang on for their lives.

What It Means-Jeremy Camp
CD: Beyond Measure (Releasing in October)
Projected peak: #1
J.B.'s Comments: It is a song by Jeremy Camp. Enough said. Though it has one downside, I like it. For some reason the songs I like seem not to do well. I also love the intro of this song.

Wherever We Go-Newsboys
CD: Go (Releasing later this year)
Projected peak: 12-15
J.B.'s Comments: Another song I really like. The problem is that it is a somewhat cheesy song. I think it will get to about #15, maybe #12. K-Love radio is embracing this song tightly, so it may get further.

Give It All Away-Aaron Shust
CD: Anything Worth Saying
Projected peak: 10-15
J.B.'s Comments: Aaron Shust has been fairly successful, mostly because of his mega-hit "My Savior, My God". Aaron Shust also had a single before he became famous. It was called "Matchless". It was on the charts hovering around number 20 for a couple of weeks. That was when "My Savior, My God" began to climb the countdowns. This song may climb pretty high because of the previous single's legacy, but I'm still saying it will be in the 10-15 range.

Come To The Cross-Michael W. Smith
CD: Stand (Releasing Later 2006)
Projected peak: 15
J.B.'s Comments: Michael W. Smith could be the most influential man in the Christian Music industry. (Ok, he's the second. Jesus is the main man!) However, Smith's run on AC radio charts is slowing down. His "Song of the Year" nominee "Healing Rain" only peaked at #4. I don't think this song will go that far.

Does Anybody Hear Her-Casting Crowns
CD: Lifesong
Projected peak: 2-1
J.B.'s Comments: This song will probably do well. It has the Casting Crowns name brand, so it will do good on the charts.

You Alone-Echoing Angels
CD: CD to be released next year
Projected peak: 20-1
J.B.'s comments: This song is reminding me of when Building 429's single, "Glory Defined" was just appearing on 104.7 The Fish. A song from a new band that happened to head straight for the number one chart position. Since this is a new band, I'm not quite sure where it will end up.

In the next issue, I will give you the progress of these songs. Am I right... or will I be corrected.

J.B.'s Song Of The Month
"Activate" Stellar Kart
This song is peppy and a feel good song. It is a song that easily get stuck in one's head. Plus, the video for this song is neato! (Trust me, you'll understand once you watch the video.)
"Activate" appears on Stellar Kart's newest album, We Can't Stand Sitting Down.
