Roseville: Roseville's Who-done-it parts 1,2, & 3

One wintery day in Roseville, JB Roberts, Rachel Song, and Lawrence Carter went to their youth group. Everyone had fun, for a little while. Though, unaware to them, the fun was about to end.
It was time for worship. Everyone found a good seat. The music started, but just a few seconds later, all the electrical music equipment shorted. There were sparks everywhere. Pastor John looked at the damaged equipment. "From the looks of things, we will have to replace everything," he said. JB, Rachel, and Lawrence went up to Pastor John. "What do you think caused this?" asked Rachel. Pastor John replied, "It looks like someone cut the wires." Lawrence asked the next question. "So, you think it was planned?" "Yes. Someone cut these wires," Pastor John answered. "I guess tonight I'm going to shout out my sermon. I don't have a microphone," he laughed.
The next day, JB, Rachel, and Lawrence met at Roseville's Best Ice Cream Joint, (That's actually the name.) to discuss the incident. "Who would do that to us?" Rachel asked. "Maybe, we could list suspects," JB suggested. "Who would be the most likely person?" "I think it might be Joseph Slang," said Lawrence. "He's mean sometimes, and he's the kind of person to stick his hands where they don't belong". "Maybe it's Daniel Cruiser," JB suggested. "He lost the job of worship leader. He lost to John Tree. Maybe he still has a grudge". "It might be John Tree," said Rachel. "Last night was going be his first night. Maybe he got nervous.". JB then answered, "John wouldn't do that. He's too nice."
Right then, Ruth Banner walked in. "Did you see the fireworks show at church last night?" Ruth said, refering to the incident. "Yes, we saw them." Lawrence answered. "Weren't they nice?" asked Ruth. This time, JB answered. "They were not nice. The church is going to have to pay a lot of money to replace everything," she said. Ruth stormed out. After Ruth left, JB suggested that they add Ruth to their list of suspects.
The next week, JB and Lawrence went to the youth group. There weren't a lot of people, because of last week. JB and Lawrence saw John Tree and Josh Supper, John's best friend. "I'm going to do my music "unplugged" this week," said John. "It stinks how our music equipment was sabotaged," Josh said.
Later that night, John Tree was on stage, about to perform the first song. When he started, everyone a cracking noise. Then, all of a sudden, the light that was above John fell.
Part 2
When we last left Roseville, there had been a string of accidents at the youth group. First, the music equipment shorted out. After that, the light which was above John Tree's head came plummeting down. Luckily, John's best friend, Josh Supper, ran and pushed him out of the way.
"Thank you so much, Josh," John said gratefully. "One more second, I would be a pancake." "I'm gald you're ok," Josh replied. "I'm also glad I took that movie stunt course last summer. I thought it would only come in handy if I wanted to be a stuntman, but saving your life, that's even better."
Pastor John came down yelling, "Is everyone ok?". John Tree answered, "I'm fine for the most part. I'm just a little shocked, that's all." Pastor John replied, "I'm glad nothing is wrong--except the music equipment exploding and the light falling--but other than that, nothing's wrong. Oh, Josh, good save. You ought to be a stuntman."
At that moment, JB and Lawrence came down to see John. "Are you ok?" JB asked. John replied, "I'm fine. A little shaken up, but fine." "What exactly happened?" asked Lawrence. "I go up to get ready to perform, then boom, the light falls." John answered. "There must have been some reason it fell," said JB. Lawrence went over to the light to get a good look at it. "It looks like the wire holding the light was cut, not frayed," Lawrence pointed out. "If it were frayed, it happened by accident. If it is cut, someone really did try to sabotage your performance."
The next day, JB and Lawrence met Rachel at Roseville's Best Ice Cream Joint, to tell her what happened. "He's ok, right?" Rachel asked. "He's fine," replied JB, "He was pushed out of the way by Josh Supper". Lawrence chimed in, "The accident was not an accident. The wire was cut. Someone cut it."
"Let's sum up our suspects," suggested Rachel. "We have Joseph Slang, who is mean, but does he have a motive?" asked JB. "Let's keep him on the list, just to be safe," said Lawrence. Just then, Rachel saw Ruth walking down the street. "Don't forget about Ruth," she whispered. "She was so cocky about the music equipment shorting out."
Just then, Daniel Cruiser came in the ice cream shop. He turned around and saw JB, Rachel, and Lawrence. "Hey, did you guys see the light nearly fall on John Tree last night?" he said. JB replied, "Yes, we saw it. It's a good thing Josh pushed him out from under the light". Daniel looked at JB and said, "Someone is obviously causing the accidents. I wonder if they are planning anymore tricks? Good thing I didn't get John's job". Daniel then got some ice cream and went to a far away table. "It has to be Daniel," said JB. "He is so suspicious right now."
JB had finished talking when John walked in, but he had a frightened look on his face. He noticed JB, Rachel, and Lawrence and went over to them. "Hey, John, what's wrong?" asked Lawrence. John replied, "I just got this note. It's kind of scary". "Can we read it?" asked Rachel. "Sure, but don't lose it," replied John. The note was in scary lettering and read: "John, stop singing or else more bad things may come! J.S."
Part 3
Last time we left Roseville, there were a lot of accidents. First, the music equipment for the youth group shorted out. A week later, when John was about to sing, a light fell and nearly crushed John. Luckily for John, His best friend Josh Supper, pushed him out of the way. Then John got a threatening note that said, "John, stop singing or else more bad things may come! J.S."
"J.S.!" shouted Rachel. "It's Joseph! His initials are J.S." "Why Joseph?" asked John. Lawrence answered, "He's mean-spirited. This is the kind of thing he would do". "I don't think it's him," John replied. "He may be a jerk, but I don't think it's him." Then John left.
"That's rather suspicious," noted JB. "It seems like this piece of evidence is pointing directly to Joseph, but John doesn't think it's him." "Do you think John might know something we don't?" asked Rachel. "Yeah, he looked like he was in a hurry to leave," added Lawrence. Then JB said, "Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this."
Rachel, JB, and Lawrence went to find John to see if he could give them some answers. John found them before they found him. "Guys, I know what happened. I know who did it. I know why they did it," said John. "It's not Joseph. It wasn't Ruth Banner. It was not Daniel Cruiser. I was involved with the accidents."
The trio was in shock. "I didn't actually cause the accidents, but I know who did," explained John. "I didn't really want the job of worship leader. I kind of have stage fright. I can see in front of a couple of people, but not a crowd. I told Josh my problem. He wanted to help me. We tried to conquer my stage fright, but it wasn't happening. The big night came for me to perform. I still hadn't gotten over my stage fright. Josh knew how to work the music equipment. He cut a few wires to prevent me from performing. He made sure what he cut wouldn't hurt anyone, but it did damage the machine. I was kind of relieved."
"You mean Josh did all that stuff!" shouted JB. "Wait, Josh couldn't have made the light fall, said Lawrence, "He was with you when it fell. He pushed you out of the way." John then answered, "Josh didn't make the light fall. He had someone else cut the wire that the light was hanging from. Josh completed stuntman class, so he made sure he pushed me away right in the nick of time." Rachel had a question, "John, if you knew all about this, why didn't you say anything to anyone before?" "I didn't know until I got the note. When I saw the initials J.S., I figured out that it was Josh. I was heading to his house when I saw you. When you thought it was Joseph, I told you that I didn't think it was him, but I didn't tell you about Josh because I wasn't sure myself."
"Since you know everything now, are you going to tell Pastor John or keep it a secret?" asked JB. John answered, "Josh said I could tell on him. He's planning to pay for a lot of the damages." "If Josh didn't tell you to tell Pastor John, would you still tell Pastor John what happened?" asked Lawrence. John replied, "I would be in a tough spot. Telling Pastor John would be the right thing. However, Josh did all of that to help me. He was a little wacky about how to help me, but he made sure I wouldn't get hurt. He shouldn't have done what he did, but it's the thought that counts." John told Pastor John everything that happened. Even though Josh shouldn't have done all that stuff, Pastor John was pretty easy on him. Josh only had to pay a fifth of the damages and work at the church for a while. Josh didn't mind that at all.
